Sublette County Special Education
Program Details
For infants and children under five years of age, the terms “special education” and “early intervention” are often used interchangeably. Broadly speaking, these terms encompass the full array of services and supports available to infants and young children with developmental delays and disabilities. Children’s Learning Center is the local agency appointed by the state of Wyoming to provide no-cost early intervention and special education for children under five in Sublette County.
Specific services depend on each child’s unique needs and might include support in a classroom setting, therapy services, and coordination of care. If your child is already enrolled with another childcare/preschool provider, we can provide services in that educational setting. If your child is not enrolled at another childcare provider, we will provide services at CLC.
The starting point for every child who might need these services is a free developmental screening. Parents and guardians can complete the screening online through the Ages & Stages Questionnaire® (ASQ®). Once the initial questionnaire is complete, a CLC staff member will contact you to arrange in-person screenings, along with further evaluation if needed. If you have any questions, please call 307-367-6306.
ASQ® Developmental Screening
Children’s Learning Center offers the Ages & Stages Questionnaire® (ASQ®), a free, comprehensive, and confidential online screening tool. This is the first step in determining if further assessment is needed and if your child is eligible for special education services.
Complete the ScreeningASQ Screening
Children’s Learning Center offers the Ages and Stages Questionnaire®, a free, comprehensive, and confidential online screening tool. ASQ® can help you keep track of your child’s growth and development during their first five years and is the first step in obtaining a developmental screening through CLC. Once you complete the ASQ® screening, a CLC staff member will contact you to arrange in-person hearing and vision screenings, along with further assessments if indicated. If you prefer an in-person developmental screening, please call 307-367-6306.

Available Services
Developmental Screenings
Children’s Learning Center offers free developmental screenings to all children, birth through five years of age, residing in Wyoming’s Teton and Sublette Counties. Developmental screenings help assess developmental skills, hearing, and vision; we encourage at least one developmental screening for all children prior to age two. Parents and guardians can complete a screening through the online Ages & Stages Questionnaire® (ASQ®) or in-person by appointment (call 307-733-3791). The developmental screening covers communication, motor skills, problem-solving, and personal-social skills. In-person vision and hearing screenings are conducted by appointment. For most children, the screening will indicate there is no need for early intervention services. For a few children, further evaluation is recommended, and CLC coordinates further assessment and ongoing support.
Early Intervention
CLC is the local agency appointed by the state of Wyoming to provide no-cost special education, therapy services, and coordination of care for Teton and Sublette County families. Our caring, experienced special education team works with families to develop a plan tailored to the unique needs of each child. Many children will no longer need special education services by the time they enter kindergarten. For children whose services continue into kindergarten, our staff works with families and school districts to provide a smooth transition.
