PINEDALE SERVICES

Children’s Learning Center in Sublette County provides Inclusive Half-Day Preschool for children ages three through five.  Special Education Services for children ages birth through five years old include developmental screenings and Special Education services.

INCLUSIVE HALF DAY PRESCHOOL

Serving children from ages three through five, preschool programs offer all children the educational boost and social experiences they need to start school with confidence. CLC’s Inclusive Preschool programs enable students with special needs to learn in the same classroom as their typical peers in a lively setting that focuses on learning readiness and preparation for future educational success. Students enrolled in preschool get to participate in creative learning activities as well as special therapy or other needed attention.

Recognizing that children with disabilities are sometimes segregated from their peers, here children with and without developmental disabilities receive the same educational opportunities, together in the same classroom without regard to ability or income. Each of our inclusive classrooms has a lead teacher, a co-teacher, and an inclusion specialist who assists the children with special needs that share the classroom with their peers. The active on-sight involvement of therapists helps children with developmental challenges keep pace with their classmates and enjoy the same benefits and rewards that academic achievement provides young, curious minds.

Using the Reggio Emilia approach, students and teachers form a partnership in learning that is highly successful. Reggio Emilia is considered one of the most effective pre-school education programs. Originating in Reggio Emilia, Italy, the program is based on a concept that allows children to create their own curriculum with their teachers as guides and motivators.  Children’s Learning Center was the first agency to bring this program to the children of Wyoming and is the leader in the state on coordinating with other preschools.

Parents of preschool students can actively take part in policymaking and other decisions for their child’s program. Parents also have the opportunity to participate in developing curriculum and are given opportunities to take parenting classes, other vocational classes and to truly understand their children’s educational and developmental needs.

The Preschool program in Pinedale is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.

DEVELOPMENTAL SCREENINGS & SPECIAL EDUCATION SERVICES

Children’s Learning Center offers developmental screenings to all young children of Sublette County from birth through five years of age at no charge to the family. Screening is essential to identify and address developmental needs as they arise. It is important to have children screened as early as possible.  Child Developmental Services of Wyoming recommends that children receive at least one developmental screening before the age of two and certainly one before the age of five.

Children’s Learning Center is the state appointed organization in Sublette County to provide therapy services, special education resources, and coordination of care for families who have a child or children who will benefit from special education services.  These services are also provided at no cost to families.  Additionally, Children’s Learning Center provides special education resources to the community, training for all childcare providers, speakers for community organizations and participates with other agencies to help families.
